victim please help? continuation?

I left a ques last week asking for advice regarding my cousin being a victim of ..it took place 6 months ago and she didnt say anythin untill last week because of his threats. i told her to go the police and repor tthis..she was in there for 2 hours.they took the report ..turned out they even had a mugshot of the guy. they asked her if she still have the clothes but she threw em away..other than that there is no evidence.. the detective has said the first thing that needed to be done was for her to see a therapist cuz of her condition...she even try to kill her self..and once shes better .they could put this guy away..the detective said the only way to do this is that my cousin will call him again and ask him y he did that...and if he says something like " he wont do it again" or " he was sorry" that is a confession and enough to arrest him.. i just want to know if there is any other way to prosicute this man..obivously he commited this crime 6 moths ago but how do we prove it?
