Christian question about thongs?

What do active Christian women think about thongs? Are they inmodest and should not be worn as underwear or no big deal? Reason Im asking is that someone was telling me that some trendy fashions like thongs, crazy piercings, and tramp stamps originated in the adult entertainment and stripper world and should not be something identified with a Christian woman. Im not sure about this one
