Carpets make me itch, what do I do?

I'm having laminate flooring in my house due to allergies, also I'm disabled and carrying a hoover round the house is too much for me, so sweeping with a brush is better, I don't know what to put on the stairs, lino would be slippery, does anyone know what I could put on the stairs and easy to keep clean?
